Committee narrows hospital budget reporting changes, keeps standardization requirement

During April 30 markup, committee members reviewed proposed new hospital budget reporting requirements and pared back several items while endorsing a board‑led standardization process for hospital budget submissions.

The bill’s hospital side would require hospitals to file with the Green Mountain Care Board information on numbers of employees whose duties are primarily administrative and numbers who deliver patient care, base salaries and total compensation for executive and clinical leadership, and proposals for how hospitals support community providers. A representative of hospitals noted related information already appears in current filings and in the board’s review practice: “I think we already asked the Green Mountain Care Board, the hospitals to provide information on executive compensation,” Marie said.
