Committee considers moving justice‑of‑the‑peace nomination deadline earlier to reduce ballot errors
The Secretary of State's office proposed changing the nomination deadline for justices of the peace to the third Monday in July so clerks and SOS staff have more time to verify names and reduce typographical errors that currently appear on ballots because of late‑in‑the‑year filings.
