Council authorizes engineering amendment and change order for Renton storm system projects

The Renton City Council concurred with its Utilities Committee to authorize two contract actions tied to local storm-system improvements.
Council approved Amendment No. 1 to Contract 24098 with WSP USA Incorporated for $349,657 to provide engineering services related to water-quality treatment facility design along the Lynn Avenue Southwest storm system improvement corridor. The work funds design of stormwater treatment elements the city said are needed as part of the corridor improvements.
The council also authorized Change Order No. 1 to Contract 24098 with RL Aileyah Company in the amount of $270,425 to cover additional quantities and one new bid item related to pavement restoration and trench backfill for the Burnett Avenue South and Williams Avenue South storm improvement project. A council member noted the increase remains within the overall project budget.
Council members moved and seconded concurrence with the Utilities Committee’s recommendations; both measures passed by voice vote during the meeting. The items will proceed to execution by the mayor and city clerk and be administered by the Public Works / Utilities departments.
