Board awards courthouse camera replacement contract; project under budget

The Livingston County Board on April 17 approved purchase and installation of updated security cameras and related software for the courthouse and the law-enforcement center.
John Cyr, presenting the information-technology committee's recommendation, said two vendors bid for the hardware, and one of the two withdrew. The remaining bid listed hardware costs of $148,872 and software costs of $24,568. The project was placed under capital and the county had budgeted $200,000 for the work.
Gina Manker, information-technology committee chair, moved to accept the bid from Benin Electronics for the camera hardware and software; the motion passed on roll-call vote. Committee materials indicate the project replaces all cameras in the county building and the law-enforcement center and adds two cameras at the courthouse front stairs.
County staff said the recommended bid is under the capital appropriation already set in the budget. The county will proceed with purchase and scheduling of installation.
