Committee reports omnibus election code bill after technical updates and amendments

House Bill 592, the committee’s omnibus election-code package, was presented by Chairman Bowyer with several technical and substantive updates recommended by the Secretary of State’s office and the State Board of Election Supervisors. Deputy Commissioner Laney Boyd summarized highlights: expanded definition of immediate family (to add grandparents/grandchildren), removal of outdated references to an electronic registration information center, authority to enter verification agreements with address-data vendors, and changes to report deadlines for the State Board’s annual report.
