Temple ISD reports near-completion on multiple bond projects; Athletic Performance Complex open

Temple ISD officials on April 14 updated the Board of Trustees on the district’s bond-funded construction program, saying multiple projects are near completion and that the Athletic Performance Complex opened to students and staff over spring break.
Kent Boyd, director of facilities (presentation), said 14 projects are currently underway in various stages. The Athletic Performance Complex is already in use; Boyd highlighted the student trainer area and classrooms in the new complex and said staff and students moved in over spring break. He said the facility has classroom and meeting spaces that will serve students, athletic trainers and community events.
Boyd reported Wheatley and Edwards elementary projects were at about 99% completion with punch-list and site work remaining. Additions at Garcia, Ray Allen and Kennedy Powell were progressing to reduce portable classrooms, with interior work ranging from roughly 65% to 80% complete. Scott and Bottom (Bridal) elementary projects include cafeteria, kitchen and classroom additions that Boyd said should be ready for August. Several high-school projects including a science-wing addition at Temple High School will begin construction this month with more extensive work planned next summer.
Wildcat Stadium repairs are proceeding under a tax-maintenance note rather than bond funds; crews removed seating and are repairing concrete and steps. Boyd said roofing work across the district is roughly 90% complete and that the operation center demolition began in March. He described phased renovations at Western Hills with completion expected in spring 2026.
Board members were shown photographs of sites and progress; no district policy changes or votes were taken during the update. Boyd said many projects are on schedule to be ready for the 2025–26 school year.
