Board forms State Road Safety Task Force, names members and adds Marlene Ryan as at-large appointee

Commissioners discussed including county engineer Scott Knowles in a nonvoting support role because of sunshine-law constraints. Wilkinson moved to add Marlene Ryan as an at-large member; the commission approved the motion. Commissioners said the task force will hold public meetings and work periodically with FDOT and other partners to identify short- and longer-term safety solutions (for example, passing lanes or center-line barriers) and coordinate public outreach.
Ending: The board directed staff to return with formal appointment names for each commissioner’s appointee and to set a meeting schedule for the task force; no funding appropriation was taken at the meeting.
