An unnamed county administrator told the Health, Education & Human Services Committee that Newaygo County—s recent transition from flex administrators to a health-equity HSA/FSA arrangement required substantial additional work by finance staff.
The administrator said the county—s benefits are more generous than those offered elsewhere, which complicates interactions with outside vendors and requires extra oversight. He thanked Miss Federle, Miss Bradley and the finance team for extra hours and weekend work to complete the transition.
Committee members praised the county for competitive benefits, noting that some employees left for other jobs and later returned. The administrator said the county will continue to work with consultants and bring renewal topics back to the committee for discussion ahead of next year—s renewals.
No formal committee action was taken on the administrator—s report at the meeting.
