District staff said the three modular buildings were purchased in 2011 and have served various district purposes, including lease use by the Lupine Community Montessori Charter School while it sought permanent space. Dennis Clegg (district staff) said administration sought board authorization to declare the units surplus and remove them from district property so they can be sold or otherwise disposed.
A board member asked how the district would ensure fair market value. Staff said they had consulted a local modular builder who evaluated the units and estimated a current value of about $50,000 each given condition and age. Board members asked where proceeds would be allocated; staff advised that because the units were originally purchased with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) funds, any sale proceeds must either be returned to the federal program or reinvested in IDEA‑eligible services.
The motion to surplus the three modular classroom buildings for disposal by sealed bid was moved by Laurel (board member) and seconded by Director Blake Peterson; the board approved the motion.
