The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy heard an executive budget overview from Director Phil Ruse of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), who described the governor’s fiscal 2026 recommendation as roughly $1.19 billion in gross spending, including $296 million from the general fund and a request for 1,786 full-time equivalents (FTEs).
