Baltimore County offers free TrueAlta access to caregivers, schedules virtual mini-conference May 30, 2025
Summary
Baltimore County Department of Aging said it will provide free access to the TrueAlta online caregiver learning and support platform for caregivers of county residents and will hold a virtual caregiver mini-conference on Friday, May 30, 2025, 9 a.m.–noon. Registration and resources are available by phone, email, or a QR-linked form.
The Baltimore County Department of Aging will provide free access to TrueAlta, an online learning and support platform for family caregivers, and will host a virtual caregiver mini-conference on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon, department officials said on the Time of Your Life television program.
Nicole Digilio, caregiver specialist with the Baltimore County Department of Aging, said the county is offering the platform at no charge to caregivers of Baltimore County residents. “We’re very excited to be able to offer access to TrueAlta at no charge to caregivers of Baltimore County,” Digilio said.
TrueAlta provides educational articles, videos and webinars on topics such as disease management, safe hands-on care, and communication strategies for caregivers of people with dementia, Digilio said. The platform also offers virtual support groups so caregivers can connect with others facing similar challenges. Digilio said the service does not require a separate app and can be accessed on computers, tablets and smartphones.
The department said caregivers interested in TrueAlta can register by calling (410) 887-4724, emailing caregivers@baltimorecountymd.gov, or completing an interest form linked to a QR code mentioned on the program.
BCDA staff also described an upcoming spring mini-conference aimed at caregivers. The virtual event will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 30, 2025, and will focus on mental, physical and spiritual well-being for caregivers. Sessions will include strategies to support mental health, tips on healthy eating and guidance on mindfulness practices, Digilio said. “This conference would be great for anyone caring for somebody in Baltimore County, particularly those that are looking for ways that they can improve their own health and well-being,” she said.
In addition to the caregiver resources, the program promoted the department’s Time of Your Life Digest newspaper. The show noted that about 8,000 mature adults subscribe; the digest costs $5 annually for Baltimore County residents age 60 and older and $7 for subscribers living outside the county. For subscription information, the department listed (410) 887-3050.
BCDA presented the items as part of the agency’s regular outreach on programs and services for older adults. Staff directed listeners to the phone numbers and email addresses above for registration and additional details.
