District reports progress on bond-funded turf, track and facility projects

Doctor Seagrest provided an update on bond-funded capital projects across the district, reporting progress on athletic facilities, sidewalks, intercom and HVAC work despite weather-related delays.
"The turf and trap projects, things are moving there, in spite of weather," Doctor Seagrest said, and listed deliveries already on-site: new field goals, soccer goals, pole vault pits, and pipe and drainage materials. He said Benton is excavating and was scheduled to begin track removal; Central's track had been removed and hauling was expected to resume this week; Lafayette was scheduled to remove its track on March 17.
Seagrest said furniture procurement discussions are underway and that some projects may miss an original April 11 completion date but should be finished "pretty close". He described sidewalk framing at Carden Park, upcoming sidewalk work at Pickett and Parkway, intercom equipment delays with installations planned over spring break, and summertime HVAC work with equipment ordered. Fine arts and science/technology equipment purchases and professional development items were also described as progressing.
Board members asked about timelines and observed visible progress on theater and auditorium upgrades at Benton. No formal vote was taken on the projects at this meeting; Seagrest offered to take additional questions and provide further updates as needed.
