The Edgewood City Council on Feb. 25 adopted a resolution establishing the city’s 2025 final docket for annual amendments to the comprehensive plan, authorizing staff to proceed with consultant engagement and review of minor scrivener’s corrections.
Jeremy Metzel, the city’s director (title on agenda: director), told the council the item reflected discussion from the prior week and that the only change since then related to allowing review and correction of scrivener’s errors identified during the process. "The only change to the agenda bill is what I mentioned in conversation last week about the scrivener's errors," Metzel said, adding that staff would engage the city’s on-call consultants to begin the effort if the council approved the docket.
Council Member Pasarowski moved to adopt the resolution on agenda bill 25-0768 (presented in the meeting as "agenda bill 25 dash 0 7 6 8"); Council Member Ramirez seconded the motion. Pasarowski said he supported examining residentially zoned areas that may be unsuitable for housing because of noise and other nuisances and suggested considering conversion of those areas to commercial use to increase property and sales tax revenue. "I think this is a great idea to move upon looking at the residential zoned areas that are not suitable for residents due to noise and all the other nuisances for possible commercial use," Pasarowski said.
Ramirez voiced agreement and said the change would help the city meet growth goals in the comprehensive plan "as it pertains to growth outside of residential." After brief discussion, the council voted in favor and the mayor announced the motion carried.
The adopted action authorizes staff to begin work on docketed amendments and to use on-call consultants as needed; it also includes direction to the planning commission to review and recommend any minor corrections identified in the process. The resolution was introduced on the agenda as "agenda bill 20 five-seven 68" and later referenced aloud as agenda bill 25-0768; the council record should be consulted for the formal ordinance/resolution numbering and final adopted document.
