The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners unanimously appointed three people to the Regional Transit System Advisory Board at its Feb. 25 meeting, filling long-open vacancies and selecting a citizen representative who regularly uses transit.
Jessica Klutz, senior transportation planner, told the board the three vacancies had been advertised, two seats were uncontested and a third attracted two applicants. The commission voted to appoint Christie Haven to position 1, Dennis Underwood to position 2, and Adriel Giano to position 3.
Clerk roll-call votes recorded each commissioner saying "Giano" or "Gianno" when the clerk called the names; the board confirmed Adriel Giano as the citizen transit representative. The motion to appoint Haven, Underwood and Giano carried unanimously.
What the board recorded: the appointments fill three vacancies on the Regional Transit System Advisory Board; the positions have staggered end dates noted in the staff report. The new appointees will serve until the term expirations listed on the advisory-board roster.
The commission took the appointments as a consent-motion action with no public objection during the item.
What's next: Staff will notify appointees and update the advisory board roster.
