Granbury ISD superintendent holds interactive community feedback session

Granbury ISD Superintendent Dr. Morawski on March 11 led an interactive community engagement session in which participants used a QR code and live polling to give feedback on district priorities.

The session, which Dr. Morawski described as part of more than 30 planned engagement events, asked attendees to prioritize topics including reading and writing, math and science, climate and culture, career-focused learning and communication. She told the room, “I always like to say that the best way to learn as a new leader is to listen more than you speak.”

Why it matters: The feedback will inform the superintendent’s recommendations to the board on district priorities and potential action steps. Dr. Morawski said she will compile results from all engagement sessions and present findings to the board in May.

In the meeting Dr. Morawski summarized district facts as background for the discussion: roughly 7,900 students, 10 campuses, about 57 percent of students identified as economically disadvantaged, and an average teacher tenure of 11 years. Participants’ open comments, visible on the room screen, repeatedly called for improved communication and transparency, more support and pay for teachers, attention to student behavior and bullying, and expanded career and choice programs.

Board and staff members in the room asked clarifying questions and pressed for follow-up detail. Dr. Morawski said the administration will categorize open responses, look for trends and report top priorities to the board. She invited participants to continued engagement and to an upcoming finance-focused session with the chief financial officer scheduled for March 25 in the same room.

Dr. Morawski closed the presentation by asking attendees to identify one impactful teacher and to suggest what the district does well and where it can improve. She said those qualitative responses will be used with the poll data to help set district goals.
