Monroe County commissioners approve claims docket and four contracts in 3-0 votes

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 27 approved the accounts payable claims docket and a set of contracts and procurement requests by unanimous votes.
The auditor’s office reported the accounts payable claims docket totals $8,634,798.06; the board approved it by voice vote. Janae Trimble, from the auditor’s office, presented the total to commissioners.
The board also approved four procurement items: an AVI Systems Inc. agreement to retool audio in Courtroom 313 ($32,488.16, 2023 GO bond fund), a Motorola service agreement to address a server issue with the Spillman jail records system ($7,904.58, cumulative capital fund), and a contract with Building Associates Inc. to renovate Suite 109 in the Showers Building North for the county employee health clinic ($130,700, 2022 GO bond fund). All three contracts were approved 3-0.
Mr. Krone explained the courtroom upgrades follow a successful proof of concept in a smaller courtroom and that the Courtroom 313 work is intended to test the amplified system under trial conditions. County staff said the installed hardware can be relocated by Technology Services if needed.
IT and jail staff described the Motorola/Spillman action as a response to a recurring server “memory leak” that slows the jail records system. County staff said the short-term remedy is to bring up an alternate server and have Spillman migrate data to restore normal operations; the board approved the service work.
Building fleet manager Richard Kreider presented an architect recommendation and explained the $130,700 contract will convert office space in Showers North into an employee health clinic, which officials said will free space in the county health building and provide on-site parking for employees’ visits. Architects and staff will coordinate technology drops and final permitting; the contract award documents show a 60-day estimated completion after permits are issued.
The board also approved procedural items including minutes for the Feb. 20 meeting. All recorded votes on these items were unanimous (3-0).
