District says new ERP payroll run largely successful after initial missing payments fixed

Accomack County Public Schools officials told the board on Jan. 21 that the divisions new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has completed its first payroll run but required follow-up to correct several missed payments.
Finance official Miss Sonley reported the January 16 payday was successfully completed on the new system. She said about 37 employees—mostly substitutes for cafeteria, teachers and custodians—were not paid because of an interface issue with timesheets; those payments were processed again and those employees were paid on the next scheduled payday.
Sonley said the divisions accounts-payable and payroll teams were split into two groups during implementation so that payroll would not delay other vendor payments. She credited staff, naming Dwayne Gladding, Sonia Riggins, Stephanie Ratzlaff, Carlton West, Christy Davis, Cindy Galambos, Donna Phillips and Tracy Ridley for extended work during the conversion.
The superintendent and finance staff said additional ERP features (employee portal, live leave tracking, integrated pay schedules) will be introduced over time. They also noted implementation complications including a benefits-platform change (UnitedHealthcare to Anthem), a class-and-comp study conversion and changes to VRS (Virginia Retirement System) pay schedules. The division said checks for vouchers approved at the meeting would be printed and mailed the next day.
Board members praised the staff for completing the first payroll and asked for continued updates as more modules go live.
