Commission approves noxious-weed work plan and KDOT spraying agreement
Summary
The commission authorized the county chair to sign the 2024 annual noxious-weed eradication report, the 2025 weed plan and the Kansas Department of Transportation spraying agreement for state rights-of-way; all motions passed unanimously.
John Gehring, Seward County Noxious Weed Superintendent, presented the annual noxious-weed plan and a report of acres treated in 2024, and asked the chairman to sign required documents that go to the Kansas Department of Agriculture. Gehring stated the plan documents chemical sales and acres treated in the prior year and the plan for the coming year.
Commissioners voted to authorize the county chair to sign the 2025 noxious-weed plan and the 2024 annual eradication report; both motions passed unanimously. Gehring also presented the annual KDOT agreement that authorizes the county’s Noxious Weed Department to spray state highway right-of-way within Seward County; the commission approved that agreement as well.
There was no substantive debate recorded; motions were made, seconded and approved by show of hands.
