Planner Haley Keane presented Dinwiddie County’s Department of Planning and Zoning year-end statistics Feb. 18, reviewing rezonings and conditional-use approvals, family divisions, code compliance activity and new construction in 2024.
Keane said three rezonings took place in the West Petersburg neighborhood and noted other approvals including a Tyndall Corporation rezoning and a Dollar General site. She reported seven family divisions during the year. Keane walked supervisors through interactive maps showing new construction by district and described the composition of 2024 building activity: “the vast majority was stick built residential” across multiple districts, with manufactured homes and some commercial activity in particular districts.
Code compliance counts for 2024 included 45 inoperable-vehicle cases, 76 junk-and-trash cases and 540 inspections and reinspections, Keane said. She offered board members an interactive GIS link for further review and encouraged commissioners to submit items to the Transportation Safety and Planning Committee ahead of its March 12 meeting.
Ending: The presentation gives supervisors a data-driven foundation for CIP and budget discussions; staff offered to provide links and district-level detail to members and to include suggested agenda items in the Transportation and Safety Planning Committee’s March meeting.
