Commissioners approve contracts, capital projects, personnel changes and GDOT partnerships in unanimous votes

The Houston County Board of Commissioners approved a package of routine and project-specific items in unanimous votes during its Feb. 18 meeting, including service contracts, capital change orders, personnel additions, vehicle purchases, and letters of support for Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) projects.

Key approvals included jail-service agreements, an independent contractor for superior court, a hauling contract renewal, a traffic-signal change order on the Touton Road/State Route 127 project, mutual-aid and GDOT partnership requests, upgrades to the online code-of-ordinances page, vehicle purchases for the sheriff’s office, and personnel actions in the sheriff’s office, roads and bridges and landfill operations. The board also approved the payment of bills presented at the meeting.

Notable items and funding notes: the board approved a change order for the Touton Road/State Route 127 project to add a traffic signal at Touton Road and SR 127. Change order No.1 totals $493,939.66, bringing the contract total to $5,905,025.11; the project is funded by the 2018 SPLOST.
