Committee approves bids and cooperative purchases for multiple county projects

The Government Center utility project grew from basement flooding and compromised electrical lines and now includes parking-lot work because crews will already be excavating the center parking lane. The LHCC roof project received several competitive bids; staff noted the low bidder’s fire-protection price component was somewhat higher but the overall package was the low responsive bid.
On vehicle procurement, staff advised the committee to consider the industry queue and pending emissions regulation changes. Committee members approved a one-time cooperative purchase of a tandem-axle patrol truck and discussed whether to move planned purchases forward because new emission requirements could add an estimated $15,000–$40,000 per truck in 2027.
