Amanda, Walworth County human development educator, told the committee on Feb. 17 that one-on-one financial coaching demand is “a little bit higher” while general classroom registration has dipped.
Amanda said the office delivered Rent Smart Train‑the‑Trainer in January with 87 participants, including at least one person participating from South Africa. She also described a Foundations of Financial Coaching course with intensive skill practice that had eight enrollees.
The educator said a new offering, “encouraging financial conversations,” targets caseworkers, teachers and other frontline workers to help them open nonconfrontational discussions about money and to point clients to trustworthy resources. Amanda said the program helps staff identify where to direct clients for credit information and handouts.
She reported roughly 50 registrants for a current professional‑focused course and noted the office’s strategy of training helpers to create a multiplication effect for county residents.
