Plan Commission continues Southern Meadows phasing amendment after staff, highway concerns

The Monroe County Plan Commission on an unanimous vote continued consideration of an amendment to the Southern Meadows major subdivision preliminary plat (SPP-24-4), after staff and the county highway department said required off-site improvements and floodplain issues remain unresolved.

Planning staff recommended denial of the preliminary plat amendment to change phasing because the petitioner had not complied with recorded written commitments to complete earlier off-site improvements, staff said. The amendment would move required improvements on South Old State Road (State Road 37) from phase 4 to phase 6 while keeping a planned connection to South College Drive in phase 4.

The recommendation mattered because the recorded commitments include a turn lane on South Rogers Street, a turn lane to access South Orchard Lane from State Road 37, an asphalt side path to Clear Creek Elementary and a multiuse path along South Rogers Street.
