County libraries report increased attendance, programs and community services

Several Dunn County library directors briefed the board on 2024 circulation, programming and community services. Presenters from Boyceville, Colfax, Menominee, Sand Creek and Elk Mound described expanded children’s programming, higher physical circulation, stronger e‑content use across the regional consortium and new community offerings such as a food pantry, automated doors and a donor match for an elevator fundraising campaign.
Colfax reported roughly doubled program participation year over year, more than 150 summer-reading signups and a “library of things” launched with grant support. Menominee and system administrators said physical checkouts and e‑content use were up across the 10-county consortium and local letters of support were submitted on behalf of libraries. Sand Creek described a busy program calendar that included knitting nights, exercise classes and a sourdough workshop that filled to capacity.
Speakers emphasized libraries’ role as civic “third places” that host programs, provide Wi‑Fi access and connect residents to services. Directors asked supervisors to continue supporting library funding and noted concrete local impacts: food-pantry donations at Colfax, community match pledges for accessibility improvements and high usage of public Wi‑Fi in Sand Creek.
