Probation accepts additional $13,527 in state funds for ignition‑interlock monitoring program

Probation Director Timothy Debbie told the committee the award totals $65,559 for the 2024–25 fiscal term; $52,032 had previously been accepted in the February 2025 budget. The grant term runs from Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025 (Legislative request 320).
Debbie said the program’s additional funds are generally tied to the number of DWI arraignments in the county and that the probation office plans to allocate part of the supplemental money to interpretation services and to travel and training. “When I became director, I put a procedure and a policy in place that all new cases for their initial appointment and all pre‑sentence investigations had to use a certified interpreter,” Debbie said, explaining why staff increased the interpreting budget.
A committee voice vote approved the supplemental appropriation; no opposition was recorded.
