Addison SD 4 discusses early plans for expanded accelerated program

Nick Sutton, superintendent of Addison School District 4, said the district is beginning discussions about expanding its accelerated course program and examining data and assessment criteria to identify students for placement.

"We are beginning to have some of those conversations of, can we have fifth graders somehow make their way to the junior high first thing in the morning to take some of these accelerated courses?" Sutton said the presentation to the board outlined the types of criteria and assessments the district would consider when identifying students for accelerated courses. "The core of this is we wanna empower more kids, give them more opportunities, and we think that's coming," he said.
Sutton also told parents there is "no action needed" at this time for families interested in accelerated placement.
