Committee approves Smitherman bill to require conflict-resolution training before high-school promotion

Sen. Smitherman's bill (SP 34) was amended on the committee floor at the request of the State Board of Education to apply the training before promotion to high school (i.e., in middle school). The committee gave the bill a favorable report and members previewed a panel on social media and cell-phone policies for next week’s meeting.
