Boone County opens fuel bids; commissioners take offers under advisement and authorize contract execution

Boone County commissioners opened bids for fuel on Feb. 3 and directed staff to review the offers and proceed with contract execution.

Staff read multiple bids for gasoline and diesel prices and contract types. Newton Weil Company Inc., Keystone Cooperative, and Heritage Petroleum were among the firms whose prices were recorded in the public bid opening. Prices read into the record included delivered and station pickup prices for regular gasoline and on- and off-road diesel; some bidders also provided quotes for E10 gasoline and tank-wagon deliveries.

After the bid reading a commissioner moved "that we take these bids under advisement" and to "authorize the president to execute a contract." The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote; commissioners recorded "aye." The board did not award a contract on the spot but gave staff authority to finalize the procurement following review of the bids.

No specific vendor was named in the motion; staff indicated they would "take a look at them and authorize the president to execute a contract probably this morning". The public record therefore shows the bids and the board’s authorization to proceed, with the final contract to be executed by the commission president after administrative review.
