Leasing bills for Fabian property move forward amid language concerns

Louie and other county lobbyists told the committee the bills are moving forward but that some stakeholders have raised objections to broadly written language that could be used for purposes beyond the county’s intent. The county’s legislative team is working with sponsors (Representative Hirschauer in the House and Senator Castro in the Senate) to narrow language and avoid unintended consequences.
Members signaled continued support for the policy goals and for staff to keep negotiating statutory language with sponsor offices. The county will monitor assignment to committee and provide updates as amendments are negotiated.
