Courthouse and emergency operations center work starts; county projects completion into 2027

Gary Stockoff of Benton County Public Works told commissioners Feb. 18 that work on the new courthouse and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is underway and that erosion‑control fencing and site work have been installed.
Stockoff said the county is awaiting a donation document through the Oregon Department of Transportation for a Highway 20 property transfer, then will record the map and seek city permits. He told the board that construction is expected to be substantially complete in fall 2026, with commissioning and court move‑in activities extending the official completion timeline into 2027.
He said the county has been coordinating bond counsel and state partners to enable bond sales and described ongoing work with the Oregon Judicial Department and project attorneys on phase‑1 agreements needed to finalize courthouse and district attorney project components. Stockoff also noted that site construction improvements for the EOC are scheduled toward the end of courthouse work and that weather and seasonal conditions can affect schedule timing.
Commissioners asked about specific site work items and timelines; Stockoff said contractors have been cooperative and that the county would provide schedule updates as milestones are reached.
