The Warren County Environmental Concerns committee voted to submit a letter to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation requesting additional funding for the county septic replacement program, a planning-board representative told the committee.
Ethan, presenting the request, said the county has run the septic replacement program for three rounds and initially limited it to Lake George shorelines. Earlier in 2024 the program expanded to more waterways across Warren County, increasing demand. "The resolution request in front of you is to submit a letter to the DEC, requesting additional funding for Warren County septic replacement program. We've been running this program, for 3 rounds now," Ethan said.
Ethan told the committee demand now far exceeds the amount the DEC has awarded to the county and asked that money already budgeted by the DEC for clean water initiatives be reallocated to the county program. Staff noted the author line on the draft letter will need to be updated to show the correct committee chair before submission.
Supervisor Vineland moved to approve sending the letter; the motion was seconded and recorded as carried with members saying "Aye." Committee members thanked Ethan and Glenn for leadership on the program during brief discussion.
No further funding amounts or specific reallocation figures were provided in the meeting; the letter requests additional allocation from existing DEC clean-water funds.
