Committee sends executive appointments to full board and raises concern about missing applicant packets

The executive committee approved moving a set of county executive appointments to the full county board and discussed an ongoing issue with missing applicant materials.

A motion to forward all listed appointments to the full board passed. Several committee members said they did not receive the applicant-supplied materials (application forms, references and resumes) at the usual time and asked that the executive's office provide that information by email in advance of committee meetings. Staff acknowledged a delay and the chief of staff said attachments had been sent that morning with an apology; members asked that the executive's office provide applicant materials earlier in the process going forward.

Committee members explained that the attachments typically include the applicant’s background and references and are not included in the public agenda packet for privacy reasons, but the board members are entitled to see them. The committee carried the motion to forward the slate of appointments to the full board by voice vote.
