“Those 8 non compliance issues … were handled in the same day and were remedied within 24 hours and reported to DOE as required by law,” Chief Jimmy Williams told the board, and he said the district is maintaining executive records available for board review.
The superintendent and board members asked whether current or pending state action would affect school-safety requirements; Williams said he has heard of possible proposals to deregulate some after-hours lock requirements and of conversations about app-based incident-reporting tools but had no confirmed legislative outcome to report. He said the district uses an anonymous companion app alongside Fortify Florida but did not identify a state directive to end app-based reporting.
Williams offered board members access to the full records in his office and emphasized that the district reported any corrective steps to the state as required.
Board members asked whether the pending special session this week might affect school-safety law; Williams said he was not yet aware of definitive legislative changes.
The board did not take any formal action during this agenda item.
