Spring ISD trustees unanimously approve 2024–25 targeted improvement plans for five schools

SPRING, Texas — The Spring Independent School District Board of Trustees on Feb. 11 approved the district’s 2024–25 targeted improvement plans for five campuses, a formal action required under state law for schools the Texas Education Agency has identified for additional support.
The board voted unanimously to adopt the plans after a motion by Trustee McDaniel and a second from Trustee Hodges. President Durant called for the vote and the tally was unanimous in favor.
The plans cover five campuses the state designated for targeted improvement; board discussion clarified these are distinct from each campus’s regular campus improvement plans. Doctor Craig Claire, identified in the meeting as chief of academics of schools and leadership, and staff said the five campuses each have specific TIP documents and that the district’s executive director of school improvement will work closely with the five principals to implement the plans.
Trustees asked for an ongoing progress-monitoring report the board can receive on a cycle; administration agreed to create a progress-monitoring report that will be included in future board reports and to provide updates each monitoring cycle.
Trustees framed the vote in a broader push to reduce the number of schools requiring TIPs. Trustee Adams and Trustee McDaniel said they want the district to treat TIPs as part of a continuous-improvement cycle and to replicate practices that helped other schools improve. Superintendent remarks and administrators cited examples of schools that have made gains after focused interventions.
