The Atchison County Commission approved an agreement with Kings Construction on Jan. 21 to replace a culvert (identified as N.5‑24.8) and authorized the chair to sign the contract and a notice to proceed.
Road Superintendent Joe Snyder presented four copies of the agreement (agreement no. 00531) for the culvert replacement, describing the project location as “14th Road between K‑7 and Cedric” in the meeting record. The contract amount is $74,775. A motion to allow the chair to sign the agreement passed unanimously.
Snyder then presented a notice to proceed (notice no. 00420). The notice set the commencement date in accordance with the agreement and gave a date of completion of April 20, 2025. Snyder said the contractor hoped to begin work next week. The commission approved the notice to proceed and authorized the chair to sign.
The county will supply the culvert material for the project, Snyder said. Commissioners asked about addenda; Snyder said none had been added. The clerk and road superintendent will complete final purchase-order paperwork as needed.
