Board hears first reading of resolution to construct Freedom Elementary School

“As you know, we have been having conversations for quite some time about Freedom Elementary. We have opened that bid cycle,” a staff member said, adding the district’s timeline is to bring the item to the board in February, take it to budget in March and present it to the County Commission in April. “You have the resolution before you and that is, what we were asking for for the construction of Freedom Elementary School. If you have any questions,” the staff member said.
Board member Casey asked whether Freedom would use the district’s existing elementary prototype; staff replied Freedom is the last elementary scheduled to use that existing prototype because of the project timeline. Staff emphasized future elementary projects will require a new design and prototype. No vote or approval occurred; the resolution was presented as a first reading.
