Part B requested programming a project to repair fire damage under the bridge carrying the I‑44 ramp over Mingo Creek to East 21st Street in Tulsa; staff estimated the repair at $330,000 using state funds, said the project would be ready for the May 2025 letting and that the party responsible for the damage was unknown. "Approval of these items is recommended, and I'll answer any questions you might have," Mr. Hernandez said.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval and the motion passed. The commission did not provide further detail in the record about the responsible party for the Tulsa fire damage; the department noted the cause as a homeless encampment in its presentation and said the responsible party was unknown.
The department will proceed to prepare both projects for the May 2025 letting and use state aid funds for the Beckham County project and state funds for the Tulsa repair. The Tulsa repair follows prior bridge damage at the same structure; in the director's report staff noted this was the second occasion that bridge has needed repair because of fire.
