The Madison Plan Commission recorded the following formal actions at its Feb. 3, 2025 meeting; all votes below were taken by unanimous consent unless noted.
Votes at a glance: - Approval of minutes (Jan. 13, 2025): Motion to approve the minutes was moved by Alder Uguer and seconded by Commissioner Heck; the commission recorded the minutes as approved. - Consent agenda (items 2, 4 and 5): Moved by Alder Duncan and seconded by Commissioner Solheim; passed unanimously. - Item 2 (registrar 86814): Vacating and discontinuing portions of Braxton Place public street right-of-way within the Triangle plat so those lands can be included in replatted parts of Lot 1 and 2 of CSM No. 1596; located in part of the NE 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 23, T7N R9E, Alder District 13. Outcome: approved. - Item 4 (registrar 86522): Conditional use application for an auto body shop at 7869 Big Sky Drive, Alder District 9. Outcome: approved (public hearing opened and closed prior to vote). - Item 5 (registrar 86521): Demolition permit to demolish a storage building and two single-family residences in Alder District 16. Outcome: approved. - Acceptance of the 2025 Progress Update, City of Madison Comprehensive Plan (agenda item 86656): The commission accepted the report with three technical edits to the land-use and transportation chapter (adding Madison DOT as a co-lead on select actions and removing Traffic Engineering from another). Motion moved by an on-the-record member and seconded by Alder Duncan; the commission approved the amended report and directed staff to forward it to the Common Council.
Notes: The Transportation Commission reviewed the progress update and recommended the three technical changes that staff incorporated and read into the record before the commission vote. Several commissioners asked staff clarifying questions during discussion (for example, about park-and-ride planning and how area-plan maps are folded into the comprehensive plan).
