Administration says midyear data still being finalized; district to present comprehensive update later

Dr. Hoffman and Dr. Friedman described the district’s approach: rather than issuing multiple partial data presentations, administrators proposed a consolidated midyear report to the board once validation is complete. Dr. Friedman said the district reviews a mix of formative and summative measures at the classroom, building and district level, and emphasized the district has increased instructional coaching, curriculum work and classroom visits this year. He said the district’s coaches and external consultants are already supporting teachers with text-dependent analysis (TDA) and other instructional shifts and that early classroom feedback was positive. “We have never had coaches out in buildings at that alarming rate and alarming in a good way,” Dr. Friedman told the committee.
Committee members emphasized they want timely, actionable summaries and flagged questions around gifted identification and teacher-level formative data. Administrators replied that gifted-screening changes were in process and that early results suggest one teacher cannot cover all needs; the district plans to continue refining gifted services. Administrators asked for time to finalize and validate midyear data and said they would present a single, more complete report at a subsequent committee meeting, along with the MTSS midpoint update.
