Kittitas County selects JRP Integrated Solutions to conduct CWU Technology Transfer Center feasibility study

Kittitas County commissioners approved a resolution selecting JRP Integrated Solutions to perform a feasibility study for a proposed Central Washington University (CWU) Technology Transfer Center and authorized the public works director to negotiate and execute a professional services agreement.

The study is funded by a Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) grant of about $50,000 awarded to Kittitas County to evaluate architectural and construction costs, public–private partnership opportunities and potential tenant frameworks for repurposing an existing building on the south side of University Way across from the CWU campus. "We were awarded this grant in the amount of $50,000 to do a feasibility study on the CWU Technology Transfer Center project," said Josh Fredrickson, public works staff who presented the item.

Fredrickson told commissioners the county solicited submittals and received three proposals. A review panel that included public works, representatives from Central Washington University and the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce recommended JRP Integrated Solutions. The board voted to adopt the resolution authorizing selection and to allow the public works director to negotiate and execute the professional services agreement.

Commissioner Barbara said the effort presents an opportunity to repurpose an existing building for community benefit. The resolution was moved and seconded and passed unanimously. The county did not provide a detailed contract amount in the meeting; commissioners authorized the director to complete negotiations and sign the final agreement.

Next steps: public works will negotiate the professional services agreement with JRP Integrated Solutions under the authority approved by the board and return any final contract documents as required by county procurement rules.
