Sequim council advances new advisory‑board code and updates code‑of‑conduct language

The Sequim City Council on Jan. 27 directed staff to prepare formal adoption documents for two administrative updates: a new municipal code chapter outlining rules for city advisory bodies, and a cleanup to the city code of conduct to align removal and disciplinary language with staff practice.
Heather (staff) presented the proposed Chapter 2.20, saying it "provide[s] an overarching guideline and structure and framework for both staff liaisons and Board members" covering appointments, reappointments and trainings. The council voted to waive a second reading and asked staff to place an ordinance adopting Chapter 2.20 on the next available consent agenda.
Heather also described a technical cleanup to the code of conduct that removes language on removal procedures to match the staff process the city follows; councilors voted to waive a second touch and directed staff to present a resolution updating the disciplinary and removal language.
Both motions were moved, seconded and approved with no recorded opposition. Staff said the ordinance and resolution will come back on the consent agenda for formal adoption at a future regular meeting.
