Santa Rita trustees approve revised facilities phasing plan; summer projects, classroom modules planned

The Santa Rita Union Elementary School District Board of Trustees on Wednesday approved a revised facilities phasing plan and received a detailed status update on completed and upcoming construction and maintenance projects across district campuses.

The board voted to approve the revision after staff presented changes that gray out completed projects and moved several items to later phases. Trustee Cindy Lopez, Trustee Albariano and Trustee Jacob Sandoval were present for the vote; two trustees were absent. The board approved the agenda earlier and later approved the revised phasing plan by voice vote.

The update explained why the district treats the plan as a rolling, phase‑based document rather than a fixed five‑ or six‑year list. Melissa (staff member) told trustees that projects may be shifted depending on the timing of accompanying funding sources — for example, state funds for transitional kindergarten classrooms. “We pushed the transitional kindergarten classroom constructions farther out because we’re waiting on an update from our state government on when we can expect that funding,” Melissa said.
