Commissioners approve Plat Resolution 2025-4 for Trent Sumner Addition

The Codington County Board of Commissioners approved Plat Resolution 2025-4 for the Trent Sumner Addition in Eden Township on Jan. 28. Luke Muller presented the plat and said it was recommended for approval by the Planning Commission.
Muller explained the plat uses the county’s adopted land use plan (2012) and decisions of the Board of Adjustment to allow transfer of a farmstead exemption within the same section when all property owners consent. He said the parties had signed the necessary documents and the plat will be recorded.
Commissioner Johnson moved approval, seconded by Commissioner McElhaney; the chair called the motion carried.
Why it matters: the plat allows a farmstead exemption to be transferred within the section under county rules and Planning Commission recommendation, enabling the property owners’ intended land division.
