Commissioners report on road work, meet with solar developer, discuss leasing tractor

Commissioners and the county judge reported a meeting with Red River Clean Energy about a proposed solar farm that staff described as roughly 750 acres in the area accessed by County Road 531 (also referenced as the road near Ridge Schoolhouse and Elkton Cemetery). County officials said the developer is still completing permits and engineering and will provide maps and materials for the county website once available.
Commissioners also discussed a possible lease-purchase for a tractor (five-year term at an interest rate mentioned as 6.1%). One commissioner said county funds were available to pursue the lease although the expense was not in the current budget; the court directed staff to include the proposal in future agenda materials for consideration.
No formal votes were taken on the road projects, the solar proposal, or the tractor lease during the Jan. 27 session.
