Bee County Commissioner’s Court unanimously approved a resolution Jan. 27 opposing proposed legislative changes that would eliminate countywide polling‑place programs, electronic poll books and electronic voting devices.
An elections official present at the meeting told the court the resolution had been drafted in coordination with the county elections administrators’ association and mirrored similar filings from other counties that seek to preserve countywide polling places and current electronic tools. The court voted to adopt the resolution; the judge and commissioners said the county has used electronic poll books and electronic voting devices to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
The court also presented a certificate to Andrea Martinez for completing the Texas Registered Election Official (TREO) program and recorded the renewal of the county’s elections administrator certificate. The elections office reported that it had received approval from the Texas Secretary of State to upgrade equipment to version 2.7 and that the county will move to iPad-based poll pads and related hardware in line with state guidance.
Commissioners thanked elections staff and noted that some equipment purchases and upgrades are covered by grant funding; the court took no separate action to appropriate local funds for those purchases during the meeting.
