Jennifer Mendoza, program coordinator for the Noxious Weed Control Board, told commissioners the board held a January 8 hearing on expiring area appointments and recommends reappointing John Gross (Area 1 / Kelso) and Betty Engleman (Area 4 / Kalama) for four‑year terms.
Mendoza said the weed-board process follows RCW 17.10 and requires three of five members to be involved in primary agricultural production; the board solicits applications, interviews candidates, and forwards its recommendation to the board of commissioners. The weed board received one application for each area and recommends continuation of the incumbents; commissioners indicated support for placing the recommendations on a future consent agenda for formal appointment.
Ending: Staff will forward the weed-board recommendations to the commissioners’ agenda for formal action.
