The Senate Housing Committee met in executive session to consider Senate Bill 5156, a bill concerning elevator standards in smaller apartment buildings. The proposal would require the relevant standards for passenger and freight elevators to be revised so that passenger elevators no larger than those that accommodate a wheelchair may be allowed in apartment buildings up to six stories and up to 24 units, and would modify which state entity revises certain elevator standards.
