At its Jan. 21 session, the Senate voted to dispense with several routine readings, agreed to pass and retain Senate Resolution 505 on the rules calendar, set multiple appropriation subcommittee meetings and recessed until 5 p.m.; several senators offered memorials and scheduling announcements.

The Senate on Tuesday moved quickly through routine opening business, voting to dispense with the reading of the journal and committee reports, to dispense with the reading of bill and resolution titles, and to pass and retain item No. 1 on the rules calendar, Senate Resolution 505. Senator Blackwell moved several of the procedural items; Senator Michelle asked that the chamber pass and retain SR 505.
