Wright County recognizes long-serving prosecutor Mark Erickson ahead of retirement

Wright County commissioners and county attorneys on Tuesday recognized Mark Erickson, who is retiring at the end of January after nearly 29 years with the county, for his long service and work on complex criminal cases.
County Attorney Bridal Lutz and others praised Erickson's trial record, his work on difficult child-injury and arson cases, and his role as a mentor to newer prosecutors. Bridal Lutz said Erickson had tried ‘‘way more than a 100 trials’’ and described him as a ‘‘true champion for victims’’ who often took cases to trial when he believed they could be won.
Erickson responded with brief remarks of appreciation and said Wright County had been ‘‘a special place’’ where he enjoyed working with sheriff's deputies, human services staff and county colleagues. Commissioners and staff thanked Erickson and wished him well in retirement.
No formal action or vote accompanied the recognition; it was presented as part of the meeting's announcements and personnel acknowledgements.
