Spring Hill issues proclamation designating Jan. 20–26, 2025, Community Risk Reduction Week

SPRING HILL — Mayor Jim Hageman presented a proclamation at the Jan. 6 Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting designating the week of Jan. 20–26, 2025, as Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Week and encouraged residents to review CRR resources from the Spring Hill Fire Department.

The proclamation, read from the meeting packet, cited national fire statistics and defined CRR as a data-informed process that identifies and prioritizes local risks and guides strategic resource investment. The proclamation text on the record stated that in 2023 U.S. fires were responsible for 3,670 civilian deaths, 13,350 injuries and an estimated $23,200,000,000 in property damage; it also described the five E’s of CRR: education, engineering, enforcement, emergency response and economic incentive.

Mayor Hageman highlighted the local department’s work and thanked fire leadership. He said, "We have one of the greatest fire departments in the state of Tennessee, I would say, in the nation," and presented the proclamation to Captain Burns. Chief Temple and other fire personnel were acknowledged on the dais.

Why it matters: The proclamation is ceremonial but directs residents to departmental educational materials and signals the city’s emphasis on fire prevention, emergency-response readiness and outreach. The mayor encouraged citizens to visit the fire department web and social-media pages for CRR information.
